QR Codes in education by BBC is an an excellent article that lists the benefits of QR codes and how as future teachers we can implement these new technologies. These bar codes can be linked directly to articles and websites that can give our students more information on a topic. This are an interactive way to connect with our students by using technology, a language most youth are very fluent in. Another key benefit of QR codes is that they can be printed on virtually any surface. This capability can expand teaching to outside the classroom or school perhaps there will be a scavenger hunt to get kids moving. Perhaps you could use the QR code to give an extra explanation on homework assignments if students want more information or if they need clarification. I think this is important since reading a lot of text can be overwhelming for some students a QR code can be attached so they can follow it if they want to to gain more information. One of the most valuable insights about QR codes is that they are inexpensive and easy to use for teachers.

This article describes how you can use QR codes to differential instruction. This is genius! It is important as a future teacher to keep in mind that differentiated instruction should be done to help students succeed. Part of that success is maintaining privacy for certain students so that their peer are unaware that their assignments are different and perhaps keeping it private from the actual student as well. That way certain students would not know if there assignment is different then others and other students will not be able to tell if their assignment is easier or harder. This is an easy way to assign the appropriate level of instruction to the students ability.

Thoughts on qr codes
As a future teacher I can definitely see myself using QR codes. I am all on board for something that can engage my students and really change up how they approach learning. It is these simple technology tools that will really change the way information is spread. Think about how the printing press revolutionized they way information and knowledge spread. This is one of those tools that will hook students in and make them responsible for finding out more information. Think even if they have to create a QR code that links me to their Google Docs page that is their homework. This is user friendly for me because I can just have a page of all QR codes instead of a stack of paper. Then I can grade and return all electronically. Lets face it the possibilities are endless if you are willing to think outside the box. You don't even need to create your own QR codes as in the one on the top of the page that one was created by a person who has several on his website. They are all historically influential people it is really amazing what can be done with QR codes.
